Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Soldiers Group

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.
